Our tubeless rim tape is built from engineering-grade polyimide, not generic packaging film. At 100um thickness, it is thin enough for perfect conformity, yet strong enough to handle the demands of modern carbon road systems. Unlike standard polyimide tapes found in the electronics market—typically paired with weak silicone adhesives—our tape uses a different, higher-tack adhesive system optimized specifically for carbon rims. We also utilize a thicker adhesive layer, increasing overall compliance so the tape can better adapt to a wide range of rim shapes and internal profiles. This enhanced conformity allows the adhesive to follow subtle surface variations, filling micro-irregularities and improving real contact area across the rim bed. The result is a more uniform bond, reduced risk of trapped air and poor contact, and a consistently reliable tubeless seal. Yet still removes cleanly without residue.
A subtle level of elasticity further allows the tape to follow rim contours effortlessly. During installation, small air bubbles or creases can inevitably form—but thanks to the transparent construction, they are clearly visible and can be easily pushed out to the sides with your fingers. This helps ensure full adhesive contact and a dependable airtight seal from the start

How to install
* Use a polyimide tape matching the Inner rim width.
* Clean the rim from any residues where the tape will be affixed.
* Start affixing the tape from the opposite side of the valve.
* Overlap the ends of the tape by 10 - 15cm ( 4-6 in). Securely attach both ends of the tape to the rim.
* Drill a pilot hole with a diameter of Ø3 mm in the valve hole section and then attach the valve.
* Because the tape may tear, do not use a tool (use your hand) to affix the tape. Pull the tape with your hand to some extent when affixing it (need of consistent tension on the tape during installation - Tape can’t be installed loosely. ).
* Affix the polyimide tape in the middle of the rim, not off to one side, as shown in the following illustration.
IMPORTANT: The polyimide tape cannot be reused, so use a new one after removing it.
Is this just Kapton tape?
No. Kapton is simply a trademark for one manufacturer's polyimide film. Calling our rim tape "Kapton tape" is a bit like calling every carbon bike frame "Toray carbon" - the base material is only one part of the final product.
Almost all polyimide tapes sold online are designed for the electronics industry, not bicycle rims. They typically use an ultra-thin film with a thin silicone adhesive because they're intended as high-temperature electrical insulation. That adhesive has relatively low tack and doesn't bond or conform particularly well to carbon rims.
Our innovation isn't the polyimide film itself - it's the custom adhesive system, film thickness, and overall tape construction developed specifically for tubeless rim applications. The result is a tape that conforms better, bonds securely to carbon rims, and creates a reliable airtight seal. It's a custom-manufactured product built for cycling—not an off-the-shelf electronics tape.
